Following the success of Napier & New Plymouth
we continued our relationship with Wates to complete the Hard and Soft Landscaping works on Solar Serena Sunrise, with their joint venture partner London Borough of Havering.
During the tender process we were involved with the client for value engineering items and were able to offer alternatives on street furniture including benches, planters, and bins.
All works completed were at ground level. The scheme design was formed of a central communal landscaped courtyard with meandering paths, seating areas and growing spaces with raised planters along with paved and asphalt parking areas.
The hard landscaping scheme involved several different types of surfacing; hot rolled asphalt for private roads and parking and pedestrian footpaths, self-binding gravel to social areas and resin footpaths around the central lawn area and surrounding footpaths joining the buildings together in the middle of the development. The resin was completed in house, by TP Surfacing & Coatings.
We also supplied and installed drainage across the site.
We supplied and installed several different paving types across the scheme – formed of Perfecta smooth paving & Model mixed colour concrete setts for residents’ terraces, Tegula mixed colour paving for vehicular parking areas. We also built 3nr concrete staircases, finished in concrete flag paving.
With the introduction of electric cars, we were asked to install car charging ducting to parking bays, and installed ducting for all the lighting columns across the development.
The soft landscaping scheme was a BWP scheme, the landscape architect from Napier and New Plymouth, and was a varied selection of UK native planting in different areas, such as the ornamental garden, a rose garden of five different varieties within a separate section of the lawn area, boarder planting, meadow wildflower seed, native hedging along with over eighty trees, soils, and bark mulch.
The large central area was turfed, with benches around the perimeter and surrounded by the resin footpaths connecting the buildings and planting to create a peaceful area for the residents. A pergola was also supplied and installed alongside raised planters with the intention of becoming a place for vegetables or planting.
