Ark Blake School
Ark Blake Academy is a brand new school in East Croydon. Opening its door to year 7 pupils in September 2020, it will grow each year and provide opportunities to children in the local area. Working with Wates, we provided fire protection for the new building, completed in the summer of 2020.
Located in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, stands Bletchley Park, an estate mansion built in the 19th century. The mansion is most famously known for accommodating heroic code breakers during World War 2 and is now used as an exhibition centre and as the National Museum of Computing. The attraction draws thousands of visitors each year.
Dover Western Docks Revival
The Dover Western Docks Revival is one of the largest port development projects in the UK. Alongside Boksalis Westminster, VolkerStevin began work on the scheme in January 2017. The £250m job included the creation of two deep water berths, the design and build of quay walls, a new marina pier, Wellington Dock navigation channel and capital dredging work.
Fresh Wharf is a major new residential destination in Barking, transforming 10 acres of former industrial land into 911 stylish homes. The site, located on the shores of the river Roding, is under construction and due to be finished by 2026, with the first phase – 532 homes – completed by autumn 2021. As a very large development, Fresh Wharf requires careful coordination and attention to detail.
The residential development in Hampstead Manor transformed existing student halls of the northern part of King’s College into 156 high-end apartments. The site consists of 13 buildings, five of which are listed. The exterior works had to be carefully considered and planned, with car and cycle parking offered. Logistics were a particular challenge due to some parts of the site being very restricted, and we had to be careful not to damage work that had been completed in previous phases.
Louis Vuitton’s flagship store in London’s New Bond Street was a huge undertaking presenting many challenges. To create the new standout location, two buildings were combined and transformed, with the exterior of the new 17,500 sq ft shop designed by acclaimed New York-based architect Peter Marino.
The International Quarter, Stratford
The International Quarter in Stratford is a vibrant new neighbourhood where people and businesses can connect in new ways. It provides a cutting edge working environment for the capital’s start-ups and creative entrepreneurs in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Securing the external works for the project was thrilling and we knew we’d have to deliver spaces that met the demands of its discerning inhabitants.
Witham is surrounded by the open fields of the Essex countryside, yet it’s close enough to the capital to make it attractive to commuters. This is why we were excited to be awarded the work to deliver fire protection at the Mulberries, a new-build housing development by [client]. Our passive fire protection division is providing fire protection to all apartments, communal areas and service risers in the six apartment blocks.
