As businesses, how often do we reflect on our involvement within the layers of history that unfold around us?

The Duke of York Headquarters in London, a building rich in heritage, now stands as the prestigious home of the Saatchi Art Gallery.  From its construction in 1801 as a Royal Military Asylum to its transformation into the Ministry of Defence’s headquarters, this historic landmark has been a silent witness to centuries of significant events.

Our current resin walkway project, undertaken after the TP Group replaced the running track in 2019 (coincidentally on which Roger Bannister used to train) was a significant step in preserving the historical aesthetics of the Saatchi Gallery.

Cadogan contracted TP Surfacing & Coatings to replace 850m² of public walkway outside the gallery.  Over a two-week programme, our team worked meticulously to overcome the challenges of working in a bustling and prestigious part of London.  Strict adherence to the Borough of Kensington & Chelsea’s noise pollution policy required all audible work to halt between 12–2 pm daily.

The results were nothing short of stunning. Delivered on time and to impeccable standards, the revitalised walkway now complements the grandeur of the Saatchi Gallery, its historic surroundings and the wider environs of buzzing Duke of York Square.  This project exemplifies how even the smallest details can elevate a site’s prestige and contribute to its enduring legacy.
