Urgent anti-slip works at Anderson Group headquarters
Anderson Group, based in Springfield Lodge in Chelmsford, invited us to propose an anti-slip solution to be applied to the steps just outside the entrance to their headquarters. These works were urgent, as the client had become concerned that the existing surface was a health & safety hazard. The steps had a tendency to become slippery when it rained and ideally they wanted this concern rectified before the winter months set in.
To ascertain the scope of what was required and the necessary logistics, we carried out a site visit. It was evident that as the only entrance to the building, access had to be maintained throughout and therefore the works needed careful phasing. Health & Safety was not just the goal, but also a major consideration during the project – this busy entrance is in constant use for 12 hours a day between 7am and 7pm. Additional safety barriers with signage were deployed and for some of the works, we decided to use weekends so that surfaces would have the necessary time to cure without access being restricted.

Anderson Group knew exactly what they wanted in terms of colour – to cater for this, we created aggregate samples for the finished surface in various colour blends until a grey mix was settled on. They also requested that the stair riser was to match the red in the company logo if possible, so we chose a heavy-duty floor coating which Bradite provides in most RAL numbers. None of the original gaps were to be seen on the new stairs, nor any joins in the stair nosing – the client was adamant about this.
Due to these very particular requests, we were excited to receive so many positive comments from the directors and their staff, who agree the quality is outstanding, praising our team who executed the works.
