Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – Surface Removal

BEFORE

Olympic Park – Revitalising an Iconic Destination

Having played a key role in the development of this site leading up to the 2012 Olympics, and contributing to various enhancements since, we were honoured to be invited back for another significant phase of work. This time, our expertise was called upon to deliver much-needed resurfacing within the Olympic Park, ensuring it remains a world-class destination for visitors.

Collaborating for Excellence
Once again, we had the privilege of working alongside The Galldris Group to undertake essential surface removal and the installation of a high-quality Resin Bound Gravel system. Our work focused on a key pathway leading to the iconic ArcelorMittal Orbit, seamlessly blending durability with aesthetic appeal.

Precision and Quality
To achieve a flawless finish, we:

  • Removed the failing Resin Bonded surface dressing by planing almost 2,000m² of the existing surface.
  • Installed a robust substrate to ensure optimal application conditions for Addagrip’s Resin Bound Gravel system.
  • Laid an additional 1,000m² of bespoke Resin Bound Gravel on a newly prepared macadam surface, creating a visually striking yet resilient pathway that enhances the visitor experience.

Innovative Edge Detail
As part of the project, Dural’s aluminium edge detail was expertly installed to meet the Park’s demarcation requirements. This involved a precise installation of 150 linear metres of edging, delivering both functional and aesthetic benefits.

Meeting Tight Deadlines
Given the high-profile nature of the site, our team worked efficiently to meet stringent timeframes. By applying large areas in minimal visits, we ensured the project was completed on time, maintaining the quality and standards expected of such a prestigious location.

A Lasting Legacy
This latest phase of work represents our ongoing commitment to preserving and enhancing the legacy of the Olympic Park. The new surfaces not only revitalise the area but also contribute to its long-term sustainability and usability, ensuring it continues to inspire for years to come.
