Our TP Painting Solutions division looks beyond the environmental benefits when it comes to recycling surplus paint and used tins, striving to make a positive impact on current paint recycling data.
Did you know that an estimated 34 million litres of waste decorative paint are generated in the UK each year? According to data from The British Coatings Federation – the UK’s Trade Association – the current paint reuse or remanufacture rate is just 2%, with 98% of leftover paint ending up in landfill sites, incinerated or poured down the drain.*
TP Painting Solutions is on a mission to improve those statistics, taking a multi-pronged approach to avoiding waste and maximising reuse and recycling.
Working in conjunction with suppliers including Dulux and Crown, empty paint tins are collected for recycling, aligning collections with deliveries of new supplies to reduce the impact of transportation.
But recycling isn’t always about disposal… Partnering with local colleges enables us to donate high-quality trade paint and wallpaper to benefit the next generation of painters and decorators, ensuring they have access to industry-grade products. To be able to invest in the future skills of our industry while reducing waste is something the team at TP Painting Solutions is incredibly proud of.
We have also provided more than just supplies, supporting training opportunities and painting and decorating bootcamps with our skilled and experienced painters and decorators sharing their knowledge and the ‘tricks of the trade’ with those who have shown an interest in a career in painting and decorating.
Going one step further, we also work in conjunction with our clients providing free-of-charge materials and labour to benefit projects such as the L&Q Rough Sleepers Initiative, helping to improve homes that are allocated to those who have been homeless. The feedback received from the residents whose homes we enhance evidences the real impact that working within the communities where we work can really make.
