Following the success of our involvement in Building a Lasting Legacy (BaLL) in 2025, The TP Group has committed to support this incredible initiative in 2026.
BaLL is a construction careers programme developed by Tier 1 contractor, Morgan Sindall Construction, in partnership with Essex County Council (ECC). Working with cohorts of students from Year 9, through to Year 13, the initiative introduces young people in Essex to the construction industry, developing the next generation of talent for the region’s built environment sector.
With support from The Sandon School, The Boswells School, Hylands School, Chelmsford College, Greater Essex Careers Hub, The Careers and Enterprise Company and Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), plus many Essex-based suppliers and subcontractors, the programme has already engaged over 100 students in its first year.
Building a Lasting Legacy reflects the pupil populations within the participating schools, targeting parity across characteristics including gender, ethnicity, disability and income. The programme intends to encourage more people from different backgrounds to sign up for construction-related jobs and further education courses. This grassroots support will help create a more diverse overall sector, resulting in a wide range of benefits for businesses and communities in Essex.
With a growing skills crisis in the UK construction sector, The TP Group is proud to support this initiative, working closely with Morgan Sindall Construction, Essex County Council and other stakeholders. In 2026, The TP Group will also be part of a working group formed to create work experience opportunities for local young people, ensuring the best possible experience and outcomes.
Helen Clements, Senior Social Value Manager at Morgan Sindall Construction, said:
“During the Building a Lasting Legacy programme’s inaugural year, we’ve seen first-hand how vital this support and investment is for young people within our communities. For example, some of the pupils have found mainstream education difficult but have really engaged with the programme and are now on a path to further mentorship, experience, and opportunities in the future.”
Michael Morley, Chairman at The TP Group said:
“We’re proud to continue our support of this excellent initiative, responding to our industry’s need to address our ageing workforce and increasing skills gap. We appreciate the incredible efforts of Helen Clements and all those involved in supporting local youths, showcasing the many opportunities our sector has to offer.”
