Helping develop affordable housing in inner-city London
Our client Smith & O’Sullivan have a track record of working on social housing projects, often taking into account special disability allowances.
We were thrilled to be awarded this work on behalf of the London Borough of Wandsworth, to install a decorative, anti-slip resin floor coating to communal stairwells and lobby areas of the housing block, to bring it up-to-date and fit-for-purpose for its residents.
As part of the borough’s ongoing works to refurbish social housing across London. The existing substrate was a combination of concrete and ceramic tiles. First we had to prepare the surfaces by grinding the existing tiles and applying an MMA fast-cure scratch coat, and carry out any repairs required. When this was finished, we were able to apply the decorative resin system. All coving detail and upstands were also coated with an elastomeric system in a colour to match the decorative flakes in the resin.
The works all had to be carried out with the residents in mind. Therefore all access was maintained throughout the building for the duration of the project, keeping any inconvenience to a minimum. Another housing project completed on time and to everyone’s satisfaction – the client and residents alike. We’re looking forward to working on further projects within the borough!
