New London Embassy

New flooring for a rather high security refrigeration room
A waterproof, heavy-duty, slip-resistant floor was required for the refrigeration room within the new American Embassy.
As this is a high-profile government building, security measures were tight, dictating that our works were carried out within certain hours. With the office in active use, Total Protection Group had to minimise noise disruption for embassy employees.
Preparation works commenced with cutting anchor joints around the perimeter of the room, followed by grinding the whole floor to remove laitance and all surface contaminants. We then applied primer, followed by a polyurethane resin floor screed with a fine textured grey finish, whilst leaving a clean and neat edge around the existing pipes and drainage. Lastly, our operatives were asked to saw-cut a joint detail at the door threshold, which was then primed and treated with mastic. This allowed movement for the existing expansion joint.
Despite serious logistical challenges, work was completed on time and in budget, much to the delight of our client.
