Complementing the prestigious Mortlake Crematorium
In the borough of Richmond upon Thames, Mortlake Crematorium is a building renowned for its exceptional architecture and unique character.
When approached to lay surfaces at this prestigious site, everyone at The TP Group felt privileged to be involved in the project. This was a large-scale job, covering a total area of 1,469m2 and, due to the time of year, we knew that weather conditions would pose a challenge. Furthermore, we would have to ensure that our activity would not disrupt the frequent, ongoing services at the site.
We set out a careful schedule, staggering the works so that services could continue as normal and compensating for prohibitive rainfall. Addagrip’s Terrabase product was selected to eliminate the need for a macadam substrate, thus speeding up the work and further helping to minimise disruption. Using a Rustic Gold blend of aggregates, consisting of a range of materials from sand to 10mm stone, the finished surface would be decorative, yet natural in appearance, as well as SUDS compliant.
The new surfaces on the crematorium pathways and courtyard complement the stunning architecture and surrounding gardens beautifully. Due to the quality of both the work and materials, minimal future maintenance will be required. The TP Group was flexible and efficient in its approach to the project, accounting for various logistical and practical challenges and laying the surface over 18 non-consecutive days. All parties concerned, including the client at the Crematorium, were thrilled by the end result.
