Painting works to withstand the elements/Fire safety to withstand the elements
Located just off the Suffolk Coast, Galloper windfarm was completed in 2018 and consists of a whopping 56 wind turbines, generating enough green energy each year to power up over 380,000 UK homes.
We were approached by RG Carters to decorate the Operations & Maintenance facility in Harwich International Port, as well as provide crucial fire safety works. The purpose-built base needed to house a 60-strong team and be state-of-the-art to guarantee seamless operations and sustainable energy production for decades to come. Bringing significant long-term employment and investment benefits to the Tendring area, the facility had to be built to be robust and to the highest standards.
We were tasked with the decoration of all internal areas in the offices, which were segregated into a high number of rooms, from large mezzanines all the way down to the cleaner’s cupboards.
Our team of specialist staff was instrumental in carrying out the work, which required colour matching walls using HEX codes in an eggshell finish. The interiors were completed using ICI Paints and palette. A separate team then came in for the installation of intumescent mastic seal to the first-floor horizontal slab to purlin, and purlin to perimeter cladding. Trapezoidal profiles were also installed as is required to top fire walls.
Construction of the entire O&M facility took around 12 months. Total Protection Group completed work on the interiors in a timely manner and to an exceptional standard of workmanship. RG Carters were so pleased with our professionalism and smooth co-ordination of the project, that more collaborative work quickly ensued.
