Revamping retirement rest-homes in Romford
Fernleigh Court is a retirement housing complex in Romford, Essex, managed by our client First Port. The development, originally built in 1989, consists of 29 flats close to shops and local amenities.
We have been working with the client for a few years now, and were therefore asked to conduct redecoration in the two buildings housing the apartments, six of which are wheelchair accessible.
We attended the site and carried out our quotation using the finishes schedule and documents provided by First Port. The job included full redecoration of all communal areas, staircores and rooms such as kitchens, dining rooms and conservatories. We were also required to supply and fit wallpaper within the shared living room. Once the decorations were nearly complete, we returned to install the wallpapering. An electrician first removed all light fixtures, so we’d achieve a perfect finish rather than paper around them. A specialist wallpaperer then completed the job.
As a fully operational care home, it was crucial to adhere to certain standards and act with respect towards the residents. This meant limitations on the times of day we were allowed to arrive and leave, as well as paying attention to noise, language use and tidiness. The care home manager and client were both extremely happy with our professionalism, and we have consequently had many more tender enquiries from First Port. The client has gone as far as to personally handpick the site team, who were praised not only for their workmanship but their manner.
