What IS Passive Fire Safety?

Passive fire safety is a set of measures designed to protect a building and its occupants from the effects of a fire. These measures include fire-resistant construction materials, fire-resistant doors and windows, fire-resistant walls and ceilings, fire-resistant stairwells, fire-resistant ventilation systems, and fire-resistant sprinkler systems. Passive fire safety measures are designed to contain a fire and limit its spread, allowing occupants to safely evacuate the building.
